MOCpages is all new

December 30, 2008

Sean Kenney has just rolled out a new version of MOCpages. I was fortunate to be asked to check out the new features before it was release to the general public. Its pretty exciting. The original MOCpages came out a few years ago. Unlike Brickshelf which is purely a photo sharing site, MOCpages allowed people to comment on other people’s models.

MOCpages had been losing some of its popularity due to all the extra interactive features that Flickr offers. With the new MOCpages many of the same features Flickr offers are now available to this purely LEGO devoted site.

If you haven’t tried MOCpages yet, I highly recommend it. Signing up is free and very easy.

Here’s a little Snow Scene

December 27, 2008

I made this a few years back at LEGOLAND California. It was an idea for a possible employee giveaway model that was turned down.

I wanted to make a Miniland scale Snowman. It was a little tricky to get it the right height. The penguin and kid were designed by someone else but they fit the scene. The sign post had sticker labels that said LEGOLAND and North Pole, but I guess I didn’t have them on in this picture.

A new Power Miners Monster has been Leaked

December 26, 2008

This image has been bouncing around the Internet for the last day or so.

He looks a little bit scarier.

He looks a little bit scarier.

Not much is known about it other than its Power Miners. I thought that the Rock Monsters were a little small, and didn’t look to scary. It looks taller than a standard Minifig. Maybe this is the Rock Mother? Who knows. I’ll let you know as soon as I do. ;)

Update: Although I still haven’t seen too much about the set this monster comes in. You can read my newest post about the Power Miners Crystal King set.

The real reason for Christmas

December 25, 2008

I made this little scene to commemorate the Christmas holiday. Ever since I worked at LEGOLAND I’ve wanted to make a full Nativity in Miniland Scale, but I never got around to it. Maybe next year.

Merry Christmas!

Castle Advent Calendar – Day 25

December 25, 2008

The battle won, the soldiers go back to the Inn to feast and frolic with their new friend the Jester. The chest of jewels is safe under the castle arch, only the bones of the undead skeletons lay on the former battle field. The dwarf takes all the weapons to make them into something more useful like paperclips. The troll sits consoling his friends the spider and the frog under the Sorceress’ Tower. Only the Sorceress is unhappy this day, receiving nothing but coal for her troubles.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you enjoyed seeing all the Advent prizes and the accompanying story. It was fun trying to explain what each prize was for.

"All But Four" LUGNuts Challenge Entry (3 of 3!)... Santa's Little Bobber

My friend Lino over at LUGNuts’ is an automotive wiz, at least in LEGO. Here he brings his “Santa’s Little Bobber for the “All But Four” Challenge. I love the theme and the design of this model, it lends itself well to both the Challenge and the Season. ;)

Castle Advent Calendar – Day 24

December 24, 2008

It looks like the battle is almost lost. The troll has turned the tide of the battle and the soldiers are very tired of holding their swords against the tireless, undead foes.

Suddenly a wandering Jester comes upon the scene. Using his magic of laughter and merrymaking, he tumbles into the crowd. Although the are undead, the skeletons do have a sense of humor. They start laughing so much that they fall apart, becoming just another pile of bones. The soldiers quickly dispatch the remaining troll. The battle is won! The return to the Inn to feast and frolic. The magical gems are safe from the Sorceress’ grasp, at least for now. . .

Castle Advent Calendar – Day 23

December 23, 2008

Now we know what the battle is all about. A chest full of magical gems is the prize of this contest. If the soldiers lose, the Sorceress will take the jewels and rule over all the land! She has already sent her spider to spy on the chest’s location.

Castle Advent Calendar – Day 22

December 22, 2008

Not only did she send a troll, she also sent a flaming catapult. Will the soldiers win the day? Will the Innkeeper see her husband again? They are fighting valiantly, but who can say at this point?

Castle Advent Calendar – Day 21

December 21, 2008

The battle was going a little too well in the soldier’s favor. The Sorceress sends a troll into mix.
