I know, I know, I’ve been gone from posting for several days. I’m creating giant bricks — really giant bricks. I’ll post more about that later. But for now check this out –
Fat Tony (no, that’s really his Flickr handle
) has created this super awesome Smaug in preparation for the upcoming Hobbit trilogy, which means we probably won’t see the great dragon till at least the second movie.
I love the dragon, but I also love the golden hoard that he is perched upon. I also love what he said about it:
“I have to be honest about the treasure, most of it is gold foil I got from a craft store. I used real LEGO coins to make imprints into the foil and then draped it around a LEGO base. Then I spread the real stuff around, pretty convincing, huh?”
And even the floor is an awesome technique. My reaction — “So Pretty!!!!”
Now all we need is an invisible Bilbo Baggins trading riddles.

That is really impressive. Very cool Smaug.

We never got a balrog set. We never got a fell-beast set. I’m going to be all kinds of pissed if they manage to get through the entire Hobbit “trilogy” without giving us a Smaug set.
Also, invisible Bilbo Baggins _is_ in that MOC. Can’t you see him? He’s right there, clear as day!
