LEGO Lone Ranger

December 8, 2012

Update: Image removed by request

The rumors can be put to rest, its now official. The LEGO Lone Ranger sets will be tied to the new Disney Long Ranger movie that is coming out July 2013.

Its sad, but at the Creation Nation Event we had here in San Diego a few months ago, we were talking about the then rumored Lone Ranger sets and a 10 year old (or so) kid asked what the Lone Ranger was — I feel old when I hear things like that. :?

On one hand, I’m interested in seeing this movie, even if Johnny Depp (who I do like, don’t get me wrong) as Tonto kind of rubs me the wrong way. But on the other I doubt this movie will live up to the classic series I remember seeing reruns of when I was a kid — no, I’m not old enough to remember when they were originally on TV, so at least I’m not that old. ;)

Either way, we (the LEGO fans) finally get the Western theme we’ve been asking for for years. I have all the original Western sets that came out in 96′ and 97′ so regardless of how the movie does, I look forward to seeing what’s in these new sets. The picture shows us a few new elements — Tonto’s ax, a long horn skull, a new revolver, and what looks like a black crow on Tonto’s head (although that may be part of the hair piece). On BrickSet you can see the set names, although no set images have shown up yet.

These sets, along with all the other fun new stuff (Galaxy Squad, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Creator, etc) that is starting to pop in stores now or just around the corner for 2013 are getting me excited for the upcoming year.

What to do with all those LEGO Boxes

May 28, 2010

Buying all that LEGO is great, but then you have lots and lots of LEGO boxes. So what do you do with them? Well I have a solution.

I turned them into notebooks and bookmarks. :)

This is what is called upcycling — turning a useless or waste product into a new and better product. Upcycling is even better than recycling because it has less impact on the environment.

If you are interested in ordering one of my upcycled LEGO box items please visit my Folded Fancy Creations shop

Also, as it is Memorial Day weekend I will include an American Flag Keychain to all orders over $10 through June 1st.

2010 LEGO Preview from the Canadian Toy & Hobby Fair

February 6, 2010

On Kris Able’s Tech Life blog he recently paid a visit to the Canadian Toy and Hobby Fair and due to the over whelming response of his readers last year was good enough to take pictures of every LEGO set on display. :)

Included in the pictures was the first images of the Collectible Minifigures and their packaging.

He also mentioned something that I’ve heard rumors of but have yet to have seen any images of:

Not included are any sets from the upcoming Harry Potter release. LEGO didn’t have any mock-up boxes or prototype sets, but they will be releasing kits both for the Hogwarts Castle, the Hogwarts Express train, and other elements from that world.

From the rumors I’ve heard, there will be a LEGO Harry Potter line in conjunction with with the upcoming video game that will be released later this year.

There are lots more images on his blog including summer’s line of LEGO Atlantis and the new Duplo LEGO Disney Cars, so be sure to check it out. ;)

2010 LEGO Sets starting to show up.

November 16, 2009

Well the calendar may still say 2009, but apparently Toys R Us doesn’t know that. :)

Despite it being more than five weeks before Christmas, rumors of 2010 sets showing up at people’s local Toys R Us drove me to see if they were true. I didn’t see that many really. I only noticed three, but two of them were LEGO Atlantis sets and one was the new Creator Helicopter. I did pick up a set, but you’ll have to wait till tomorrow to find out which one. ;)

The sets that arrive seem to be sporadic, depending on where you are. So if you can’t wait, check out your local Toys R Us and see what you can find.
