LEGO Buzz Lightyear

by

With the upcoming partnership of LEGO and Disney, I figured we’d probably start seeing some very cool LEGO built Disney character models. Designed and built by my friends over at the LEGO Model Shop in Connecticut this Buzz Lightyear stands 5’3″ tall. (just a bit taller than me 😉 )

June 3, 2009 — Las Vegas, NV — A 5’3″ LEGO model of Buzz Lightyear, constructed from 40,000 LEGO bricks in 250 hours by 3 Master Builders, was unveiled by Disney Consumer Products at the Licensing International Expo to showcase the excitement “building” around the classic Toy Story franchise. Disney will support the franchise with the re-release of the first two movies in 3D for a two week engagement this October, a third new movie in summer 2010 and a spectacular consumer products line.

With the San Diego Comic Con just on the horizon in July, I’m really hoping and betting (I heard it from a very reliable source) that this will be on display at the LEGO booth. Even though its still early, I’ve been thinking a lot about the Comic Con lately. If you’ve never been, you kind of have to prepare yourself, with 126,000 people attending its an energy draining experience. 😛

For those of you who are fortunate to be going, the tickets are already all sold out, look for me. Once again, I’ll be helping out at the LEGO booth. 🙂
