Lego Brickmaster Star Wars in 2010

October 20, 2009

DK Publishing released two LEGO Brickmaster Books this year — Pirates and Castle ($24.99 USD). However, rumors are already starting to fly about one that won’t be available till mid-July of 2010 — LEGO Brickmaster Star Wars.

There is no image (not surprising this early) but at Amazon.co.uk you can already pre-order the book for Β£14.09 (that’s English pounds for those who don’t know). πŸ˜‰

Also, according to Overstock.com there is also a LEGO Brickmaster LEGO City coming out at the same time.

I actually just found both the Pirates and Castle Brickmaster books at my local TJ Max (of all places) a little while ago. I didn’t pay $25 though, it was more like $15. In my opinion, that’s about how much they are worth. Yes, they are reminiscent of the Idea Books of yore and you do get a small amount of bricks to build with, but the cost is just a tad too pricey. Also, the book is a little awkward in shape, 3/4’s of it is the cardboard box that contains the bricks. So you have this really thick cover and then about 40 actual pages.

It will be interesting to see this Star Wars Brickmaster, but I will hold all opinions until it is actually available. πŸ™‚

First Look at Space Police 2010 Sets

October 9, 2009

The 2010 sets just keep popping up. I found out about these over at Eurobricks.

LEGO Space Police Raid VPR 5981

LEGO Space Smash ‘n’ Grab 5982

They both look like pretty cool sets. With the new alien in LEGO Space Police Raid and the purple elements in Smash and Grab I’m definitely adding them to my want list. According to Amazon.com they will be released January 1st.

If this year is anything like past years however, I have a sneaky suspicion that a great deal of these “leaked” sets that are due to release in January will more than likely start showing up on the the shelves just around Christmas time. (This is just my personal opinion, not a fact). πŸ˜‰

One thing that I think is pretty funny about the new Smash and Grab set is what the alien is trying to steal — an ATM embedded in an asteriod (at least I think that’s what the set designers were going for).

You can see a zoomed-up version of the picture at Amazon.com Update: And if you look really closely you will see the new 1×3 tiles on the front. 8) (Thanks Bruce for pointing that out)

Tomorrow I’ll preview some of next year’s Creator line so stay tuned. πŸ˜‰
