Portal of Atlantis #8078

May 10, 2010

Daoudbazaar on Eurobricks reviewed the new and upcoming Portal of Atlantis set. I have yet to have seen this here in the states yet (its supposed to be out in June). Apparently the set is 98 Euros (roughly $120 USD) and in Daoudbazaar’s words the number of pieces is “a lot.”

In this set we get a look at a new Atlantis minifigure

Here you can see the full set built.

In some ways this set doesn’t make sense, why would under water creatures need stairs? 😀 I guess the “excuse” could be that the ruins had once been above the water, but whatever. Even so, this is a pretty sweet model.

One of the features of the set is a “Stargate-like” portal that can only be opened with the five disks

There is also a bit of insider humor —

That’s a Aquaraider’s helmet the skeleton is wearing. 😉

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 28, 2008

I know it’s a little late, but Happy Thanksgiving! This is an official LEGO set of a turkey, although its not currently available, it has been in the past. I was actually looking for a really cool LEGO turkey to show you, but I just couldn’t seem to find one. The sad thing is that there is a really cool one at LEGOLAND, but I don’t have a picture of it, and I don’t think its anywhere on public display. It was made a few years ago for the first Master Model Builder search. I also thought about making a cool LEGO turkey, but I was a bit too lazy to do it. (Especially after the pumpkin pie!)

And for all of you Black Friday Shoppers out there, well there are quite a few LEGO sets on sale. Target has the Imperial Star Distroyer for $59.99 and Walmart has the King’s Castle Siege for $48.88. Toys R Us also has selected Bionicle, all Aqua Raiders sets, the Star Wars MTT, and the Mars Mission Drilling Unit on sale. Good luck, and happy shopping! 😉
