Bunny and Babies LEGO Set 41087

May 28, 2015

Okay, so I know I haven’t posted for a couple of months, traveling to Australia, Baltimore and Utah in the span of those same couple months, along with building 3 big commissions has taken up most of my time lately, so this blog languishes in inactivity. I do post regularly on my Facebook Page and on My Twitter feed, so follow both of those if you want more recent and up to date posts. I do plan on doing a proper post for my Australia trip, however since I am flying to Virginia tomorrow for Scouting for Bricks and then Nashville before I get a break for a couple weeks till BrickWorld Chicago, I still haven’t had time to process and go through all my pics yet.

So, in the interim I’m doing a quick fun set review.

It all started this morning when I looked on BrickSet and saw this set.

Just from the pictures I knew I had to get it.

Do you see what I see? Did you read the title? Bunny and

At $4.99 USD, its a fairly reasonably priced set. LEGO Friends replaced their pet polybags with these new mini set boxes, which I’m totally fine with. The other two in this series set are a baby horse an a puppy, but I passed on both of those in preference of this set for one very good reason — bunny babies!!!

To get a better idea of size, here’s the three sizes of bunny and as you can see the baby bunny is minifig scale.

The set itself is okay, a decent parts pack.

But of course when I saw the babies I didn’t want just two, I wanted a whole herd of bunnies! So I had to buy all the sets on the shelf ๐Ÿ˜€

Much better ๐Ÿ˜‰

Set overall — 5 stars!! The baby bunnies are beyond awesome!
Pros — Baby bunnies!!!!!!!
Cons — Not enough baby bunnies ๐Ÿ˜€

I really hope they make these in other colors.

LEGO “Elvis”

January 11, 2013

LEGO "Elvis"

Ryan McNaught, Australia’s only LEGO Certified Professional has created yet another mind blowing LEGO model of staggering proportions! And no, its not Photoshoped, its just that big.

Close-up you can start to get an idea of size

100,000 bricks.Built for Brickvention 2013.
At just under 4m and over 1m high (that’s a little over 13 ft long and 3 ft tall), this is by far the largest Helicopter I have made.
It took me just over 1 month to design and build, with its unusual shape and virtually no ground contact made it technically challenging to build.

Last year’s model was a Saturn V rocket and the year before that the Love Boat. So Ryan building big isn’t all a surprise to me, he just had me waiting on the edge of my seat for him to reveal this year’s creation.

If you happen to be in the Victoria area of Australia next weekend, BrickVention is being held on Jan. 19th and 20th. Public tickets are available through the website and selling fast.

And like last year a batch of my LEGO jewelry, keychains and stickers will be available for sale.

Rocket Man

January 12, 2012

Australia’s only LEGO Certified Professional Ryan Mcnaught has outdone himself once again!

Me next to the Saturn V

Known for his Love Boat and Qantus Airbus, Ryan is familiar with making big models. But his newest model the Saturn V rocket has 120,000 bricks and is 5.76 meters — nearly 19 feet tall!

Compared to the one we built at LEGOLAND California for Miniland Florida years ago (now on display in Denmark), this one is at least three times taller.

I love all the fun little details he adds to these models.

With the help of a little dry ice, its about to blast off!
Its a long way to the top....

The crew is about to board, but somebody is a little nervous ๐Ÿ˜€
Houston, We have a problem.....

There is so much that is downright awesome with this model! It will debut to the public at this year’s Brickvention January 21st-22nd in Melbourne, Australia.

On a slightly unrelated note, for any of you who are going to be at Brickvention, my LEGO jewelry and key chains will be available for sale at the convention. I can’t be there unfortunately, but at least I can be part of it in this small way. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy 2012!

January 1, 2012

One of my friends from Down Under, Kevin Hall, created this fun and glowing MOC (my own creation) for the start of the new year.ย

Happy New Year to all of you.ย  Hopefully you had a good Christmas and are looking forward to the new year. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t make many resolutions, but one I hope to keep this year is to keep up this blog better. I am greatful for being so much busier in 2011 than in previous years, but I have felt bad about my lack of regular posts. I am looking forward to this year and I already have several projects in the works.

So, what resolutions will you be making this year? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Inspired Roses

October 26, 2011

LEGO Flowers

My good friend Ryan Mcnaught, Australia’s one and only LEGO Certified Professional, created this wonderful box of LEGO roses for a VIP. He was inspired by my LEGO rose design and added his own spin to it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Buzzy Bee!

I love the ribbon bow on the box, but I have to say that one of my favorite parts on the model is the “buzzy bee” as Ryan’s kids call it. The bee maybe technically an “illegal” build (just like mine), as it can’t be done without glue but I don’t care — its just too darn cute! ๐Ÿ˜€

The LEGO Mega Mystery Mural in Australia

January 25, 2011

Recently at the Sydney Aquarium the world’s largest publicly created LEGO mosaic was built with the aid of Master Model Builder Steve Gerling. Here you can see a section of the 17,280 6×6 knob spaces waiting to be filled.

And here’s Steve himself working on the mosaic. You can really get an idea of size with him standing next to it.

As a sort of “build-by-number” guide each 6×6 plate has the colors printed on them and the back of the plate tells Steve where that particular plate goes on the overall mosaic.

It takes 622,080 1×1 bricks in various colors to build the entire picture!

So, what did the final mosaic look like? Well unfortunately I couldn’t find a picture of the actual mosaic, but I did find a picture of the image:

If you find yourself in Sydney this year, stop by and see the finished mosaic. It will be on display through 2011.

Brickvention 2011 Video

January 17, 2011

Check out this cool video from BrickVention 2011.

And this Love Boat created by my friend and LEGO’s newest Certified Professional Ryan Mcnaught that was unveiled at BrickVention.

Ryan is known for his NXT powered Airbus A380 that he created last year and had on display at BrickWorld 2010. He said that he plans to bring his Love Boat to BrickWorld this year, so those of you heading to the Chicago LEGO convention will be able to see it in person. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Working on St. Basil

September 15, 2010

WIP St. Basil

I don’t normally post WIP (works in progress) but even in its unfinished state Arthur Gugick’s latest model is a wonder.

Having computer and mathematical background, he’s a math teacher, Arthur has a very different design process to me. I’ve known Arthur for several years, ever since he tried out to be a Master Model Builder at LEGOLAND California. He didn’t end up getting the job, but that didn’t stop him for getting worldwide recognition for his LEGO buildings. He even flew to Australia for a movie that featured his Taj Mahal.

I look forward to seeing this one when it is completed. ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Patriotic Ford Mustang GT – 2011 Independence Day

July 4, 2010

Happy 4th of July to all my fellow Americans. ๐Ÿ™‚

Peter Blackert, who is known for his skill at building vehicles, has created a very patriotic Ford Mustang GT especially decorated with stars and stripes for America’s Independence Day. The funny thing is that he is Australian. ๐Ÿ˜€

Happy 4th July to all in the USA.

Greetings and God Bless on the anniversary of the Independence of your Nation.

My gift this year is a 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 Coupe decorated with the Stars and Stripes.

Even if you are not American, you can appreciate Peter’s design and LEGO model building skills. ๐Ÿ˜‰
