Day at the Beach

July 18, 2011

Sorry for the longΒ absence. Β I just got finished with my large commission last week and I’m trying to recover from all the lost sleep I’ve had the last month or so. As soon as I can I will be posting about my model but for now I’ll post this instead. πŸ˜‰

Although I haven’t been on vacation, LEGO Comic Artist and fellow LUGOLA member Paul Lee took his family to the beach recently, this little guy was the result. πŸ˜€

What a great way to spend a day by the ocean. πŸ™‚

Life's a Beach

Joshua Morris is known for his elaborate and creative MOCs (My Own Creations) and his newest is no exception. At first glance it looks like a pretty simple beach scene that he made primarily to show off all his new Collectible Minifigure Series 2 figs. But as you look closer you see the level of detail he’s put into this model.

I love how the Pharaoh is making sphinx and the Spartan is making a sand castle. πŸ™‚

Life's a Beach
The wave the surfer is riding is an excellent use of a simple curving technique.

Great job Joshua!

Pirate Advent Calendar Day 9

Captain Brickbeard and Janey Blackheart arrive at the beach and find a funny crab hitting a small tree with his snapping claws. What they don’t know is that he is trying desperately to knock a coconut from the tree. The crab loves cracking the hard coconut shell with his claws and drinking the milk and eating the white meat hidden within.

Sadly the crab’s eyesight isn’t all that great and he can’t see that there are in fact no coconuts to be had in that particular “tree” (its actually more of a shrub really). πŸ˜•

Hopefully he will give up on this fruitless quest and find a more productive tree.
