Heather Nicole Braaten...you are loved

Heather Nicole Braaten…you are loved

Thank you for the love, prayers and support you shared and thank you for your efforts made in Heather’s search, whether it be blogging about it, handing out flyers or searching in your own neighborhoods. Unfortunately her body was found yesterday, April 1st 2012. She valued her friendships and especially the LEGO community. Her family said it was ok for me to post this image and this write up. These are all the details I know for now and I will keep you all posted as I know more.

Her passing is a great loss to the whole AFOL community and especially to those of us who knew her. She was the founder of the FFOL Brick Chick Flickr group and one of the few well known female LEGO builders out there.

I naturally found an instant kinship with her and will miss her beautiful smile and sense of humor.

I found a couple pictures I took of Heather from the 2010 BrickWorld Chicago

My condolences to her family and all of the friends she’s left behind. I am grateful I was able to be counted among them.

Sig Fig and Heather

Heather, I will miss you.

Futurama is Back, Baby!

June 23, 2010

Although I noted Pepa Quin’s Futurama layout in my last post I didn’t notice this mosaic at BrickWorld, probably because it is on the backside.

Futurama is returning to TV tomorrow on Comedy Central after its untimely cancellation many years before on Fox Network. Although it is definitely not for the younger crowd, I’ve been a fan from the beginning.

Even if you are not a fan of the show, this mosaic is impressive. It utilizes a lot of SNOT (Studs Not On Top) techniques and let me tell you from experience, building letters at a slant in LEGO is not easy. 😉

Great job Matt!
