New LEGO Target Gift Card

November 3, 2011

Last year Target made one of the coolest gift cards out there — a LEGO gift card. Not only was it a little LEGO set of Bullseye the Target mascot, but the clear acrylic box it came in was an actual gift card. I admit, I had to get several. 🙂

Well they are at it again. And this time its even better. Not only can you again make the Target Dog with the 49 pieces, you also build a polar bear or a snowman with the same parts!

The gift cards were a little tricky to find, especially if you wanted a quantity. But the cool thing is that you can put as little as $5 on each card. And then use that $5 on any Target purchase. So basically if you shop at Target, you can get a free, exclusive LEGO set.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell this is a US only promotion as Target is only in America. But even so, its pretty cool!

Andy’s Room

December 9, 2010

Andy's Room

Although this has already been posted on both FBTB and Brother’s Brick I would be remiss in not posting this jaw-dropping creation by Matt De Lanoy. At first glance it doesn’t quite hit you how big and detailed this model really is, that is until you notice that the room is scaled to the Toy Story minifigs.

That’s right, just like in the movie, Buzz, Woody, and all the other cast of characters (except the Toy Soldiers of course 😉 ) are doll-sized to Andy’s Room. 😯

My newest layout comes from Toy Story 2 – Andy has moved in to a new house which remarkably has an almost identical looking room as his last. This

This took me roughly five weeks to create, start to finish. The full layout is 30″x30″, and roughly 36″ high. The ‘scale’ I did this in would put the room at roughly 16 feet square.

A few changes have been made to the actual room in the movie. Since this is meant to be seen at shows, one wall needed to be taken out. The missing wall contains the main door to Andy’s room – the door on the side is just a closet. Because of this, the dresser and shelves had to be relocated. Fortunately there was plenty of open space – those corners were mostly empty in the movie.

For those of you in the Chicago area who would like to see this in person, this will be going on display for the first time at the Northern Illinois Lego Train Club’s Christmas Show in Wheaton, Illinois, Dec. 11th and 12th. I will also be bringing this to Brickworld 2011 as well as numerous smaller local shows all year round.

The mosaic on the bedspread is stunning!

I love the bookshelves!

LEGO Toy Story 3 Sets Early Pictures

December 14, 2009

On the cusp of the LEGO Toy Story sets finally being released early images of the LEGO Toy Story 3 sets are starting to appear. 8)

7789 Lotso’s Dump Truck

7597 Western Train Chase

7596 Trash Compactor Escape

From what I see, these will be a nice addition to a great theme. The Dump Truck doesn’t really excite me all that much, but the other two look pretty cool. I won’t be able to make concrete judgments until I see the actual sets, but I’m starting to get excited. 😉

I picked up three of the current Toy Story sets myself and I’ll be sure to post my reviews of the sets in future posts. One thing I will say is that even if you aren’t a Toy Story fan these sets should not be overlooked. There are a lot of great pieces, parts and colors in the sets.

Thanks to FBTB.net for sharing these images. 😀

Update: Images were “taken down.”
