Although the official announcement isn’t expected until tomorrow, it looks like what used to be Cypress Gardens Adventure Park in Winter Haven, Florida will soon become the next LEGOLAND theme park.

In what may be the biggest announcement of the new century for Winter Haven and Polk County tourism, Merlin Entertainments will announce tomorrow, January 21, they will open their second U.S. Legoland Park here in Winter Haven on the Cypress Gardens property. Merlin operates Legoland California which has been named the #1 Children’s Park in that state for the past six years.

I can’t really say that I’m surprised. Having only one LEGOLAND in California and one LEGO Discovery Center in Chicago hardly serves the whole of America. It looks like I will have one more reason to visit the Sunshine State besides Disneyworld. 😉

Here there be Dragons . . . er. . .Seamonsters

Nathan Proudlove created this simple, yet totally brilliant version of the Disneyworld LEGO Seamonster that is just outside of the LEGO store in Florida.

The new Pirate sets are starting to come out!

November 10, 2008

Recently I was at LEGOLAND and I saw that the new Pirate Ship Blackbeard’s Bounty and the Soldier’s Fort sets! These are the first of the 2009 line, conveniently available just before Christmas.

On Joe Meno’s Flicker Photostream he shows us the entire line. It is currently available at Downtown Disney at Disney World. I don’t know if they are at Disneyland yet or any of the LEGO stores, but keep your heads up. I’m sure that they will be available at other places soon. Also, here’s a tip, if you don’t live by a LEGO store, you can always call them, or LEGOLAND, and they will ship it to you. That is if you can’t wait till the sets are available on 😉
