Escape from Wampa Cave

June 29, 2011

Something about this picture by Padozky struck me. I think its the shear awesomeness of the lighting and the “snow.”

I can almost hear the howling below-freezing Hoth wind and the bone rattling roar of the Wampa as he comes to claim his newest meal. πŸ˜€

LEGOLAND Star Wars Days 2010

August 8, 2010

This weekend is fun and full for me. I was at LEGOLAND yesterday and will be back again today to help out with the SANDlug/LUGOLA display at Star Wars Days.

I added my own contribution of the Dagobah Swamp with a little help from my friend Tiffeny Thompson who brought her X-wing and Yoda hut set along to finish the scene.

One of my favorites was the CubeDudes Jabba’s Palace made by Master Model Builder Joel Baker and friends.

And here’s what Matt Armstrong’s Micro Star Wars scenes looks like all together

There are many more pictures at my Flickr photostream and I’ll be taking more today. But for now I’ve got to go and get to LEGOLAND for the final day of Star Wars Days. πŸ™‚

Monster’s Micro Star Wars

August 5, 2010

Matt “Monsterbrick” Armstrong is known for his unconventional building styles and his new micro Star Wars scenes are simply adorable! Even though its micro, you can clearly tell what scenes he’s made.

The only thing that might be a tad “taboo” is Yoda’s head. Its a cut down flower stem. But as it is a fairly common part and it works so well, I don’t really see a problem with it though.

Matt will have these models and several others on display at this weekend’s LEGOLAND Star Wars Days.

Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND California

August 3, 2010

If you are in the San Diego area this weekend you might want to check out LEGOLAND’s Star Wars Days August 7th and 8th.

Activities include: a Star Wars Costume Contest, the 501st Druid Hunt Game, a Building Competition, Jedi Trivia (winners will receive the super collectible White Boba Fett minifig — its only for kids though), and a layout display by my very own LEGO fan group SANDlug.

Here’s what part of the layout looked like last year.

For those of you unable to attend, don’t worry. I’ll be covering it here on my blog. However, if you are planning to attend, I will be on hand at the Fan Display in Miniland. Come by and say hi. πŸ™‚

Christmasification of a Star Destroyer

December 25, 2009

Eurobricks is holding a Star Wars Christmasifiication challenge till the end of the month. We’ve all seen Christmasified Star Wars MOCs (my own creations) over the years. Larry Lars Nativity, Tim Goddard’s Xmas Speeder, and Louise Dade’s Season’s Greetings from Hoth are just a few examples.

Starwarsboy5 (aka Mos Eisley on Eurobricks) has come up with a rather ingenious Christmas Star Wars model that I’ve only seen something similar once before.

Before their secret location was discovered by the Empire, the Rebels always enjoyed Christmas on Hoth. Not only did they always have a white Christmas, but Luke and Leia could often be found singing carols near the giant Christmas Tree in the Echo Base Galleria…

The details on this are simply stunning! The micro ship ornaments are one of my favorite touches and the caroling Luke and Leia are a fun bonus.

You can see the full set of pictures on Brickshelf.com and you can also post comments on the Eurobricks forum.
