Ring Ring

January 8, 2015

With the rise of cell phones, payphones are going the way of the dinosaur, but Sean and Steph Mayo have brought it back for their current Iron Builder competition.

Lego Payphone

This is a full size combination payphone and piggy bank, is made completely from Lego! Insert coins comfortably for savings, or retrieve them from the coin return for spending!

If you zoom in on the micro printing, you’ll find buss times, metro lines, and even a few places to visit 🙂

Not only that, but they created this life size hair brush

I always look forward to what Sean and Steph come up with.

One small step…

Astronaut

This awesome model is by Tyler Clites. I always like to see Tyler’s creations and this is no exception. I can almost see the Earth reflected in the astronaut’s visor. 😀

And the 1×1 round gray tiles are a perfect moonscape!

Apparently this was a commission and it was also a more realistic variation of a model he made last year for MOCathon and Iron Builder competitions.

Houston, We Have a Problem

Its hard to say which one is better. The top one is more dramatic, but the bottom one is playful. But the great thing is that we don’t have to chose, we can like both equally! 😀

Two Different Islands

April 15, 2013

Iron Builder is at it again. Two builders enter, only one leaves.

Okay, that’s a little dramatic. But so are these two models by
Chris Maddison
and Bruce Lowell
Castaway

Sunset

I love Chris’ palm trees and the tiny sailboat in the distance. But the sweet serene sunset that Bruce has created is also awesome.

Monstrous Red Plated Beetle

I wouldn’t want to find this out side my room, at least not if it was real. But hey, this cool LEGO beetle by Bart De Dobbelaer is awesome!

This is just the latest in the Iron Builder contest.

Here’s a couple more he created
Total Wipeout

the Gateway

Keep it up Bart!

Lino’s Lionfish Starship

July 19, 2010

Lino Martins, no slouch when it comes to model building, is currently going head-to-head with equally talented builder Guy Himber in what can only be called Iron Builder (naturally). 😉

Just like Iron Chef there are secret ingredient pieces that must be used in clever and interesting ways. They are building these for a Builder’s Lounge challenge.

Not to be out done Guy created this Urchin

It all started with a simple CubeDude version of Lino:

Cube Dude Lino was concerned as to what fate V&A Steamworks had planned for him.

He should be VERY afraid……….

Another creation by Guy with the same mystery part is this:

I don’t know exactly how they will tell who wins this competition, but I will keep an eye on both of their photostreams on Flickr.

Can you guess what the mystery part is? Hint — its white and curved. 😉
