Walmart Iron Patriot Exclusive

May 7, 2013

So, have you seen Iron Man 3 yet? I just got a chance to catch it last night and it was just as fun as one and two.

One thing I was disappointed with **warning: slight spoiler** was that of the three Iron Man 3 LEGO sets, only the Malibu Mansion has anything to do with the movie. I realize that the sets are often designed while the movie is still in production, and perhaps there is a small chance that the other two sets may have been left on the Editing room floor, but considering the continuity of the movie, I really doubt that.

On that note, LEGO Marvel Super Heros the video game is coming out at the end of the year. And for this one Walmart, not Gamestop, has the exclusive figure — Iron Patriot.

Its a pretty sweet fig, although I still think that the helmets look a little on the big side.

Iron Patriot is available with the preorder of the game on PS3, XBox, or WiiU — all for just a hair under $50 each. Sadly it doesn’t look like it works for Nintendo DS or 3DS. 😦

The weird thing is that it says that the game will be available for shipment on Dec. 31st, everywhere else it says Oct. 31, which makes more sense. So we’ll see what the actual date is.

I’ll just share the pictures with you for now, its too late to do a proper post but hey, in this case, pictures are really all you need. πŸ˜‰

I do have more pictures and I’ll be adding them as I go along all weekend on my 2011 Comic Con Flickr set.

I have much more to post about such as the Green Lantern exclusive fig and the Warner Brother’s Swag Bag, but I’ll post the details later as it is really late and I need to get up pretty early for the official Day 1 of Comic Con 2011.

Miniland Ironman

Ironman 1

Here is another of my Miniland Superheros series — Ironman. Getting all the armor and colors to look just right was fun. The mask was especially tricky. I had to think about how to make it yellow in front and red in back. I’m pretty happy with the result. πŸ™‚

LEGO “Cowparade 2008”

September 19, 2009

This may be one of the strangest posts yet on my blog. Apparently in Billund Denmark the LEGO employees had a contest called “Cowparade 2008” in which they could decorate a LEGO cow how they saw fit. It makes me think of the actual Cowparade that began in 1999 (check out the website).

On a recent trip to Denmark Blue Moose snapped some photos of the altered bovine.

In a staff restaurant at LEGO’s headquarters in Billund, Denmark, there is a display of entries from a customised cow competition held last year called “Cowparade 2008”; it looks like it was an internal competition open to LEGO employees only.

Now some of you “purists” out there (i.e. people who don’t alter their LEGO in any way), might be shocked at the alterations these cows have under gone. I can just see some of you out there asking “why would they do that to a perfectly good LEGO cow?!!!!!” 😯

Setting hysterics aside and the fact that the cow only comes in a few larger sets you have to remember that for those that work for LEGO many of them are not as obsessed with the little plastic pieces as we of the LEGO fan community. Also you if you are working for the company that makes said plastic pieces, getting a sizable number of what we would consider a rarer piece isn’t that hard. πŸ˜‰

Plus, you have to admit, some of them are pretty funny. πŸ˜€

For the last set you need to see it in its original size to fully appreciate the different models. There are so many to appreciate. The “Iron Cow” and Silver Surfing Cow are a couple of my favorites. I would have to say, it is a mooooooooving experience. *

*Sorry, bad joke. πŸ˜†
