What to do with all those LEGO Boxes

May 28, 2010

Buying all that LEGO is great, but then you have lots and lots of LEGO boxes. So what do you do with them? Well I have a solution.

I turned them into notebooks and bookmarks. πŸ™‚

This is what is called upcycling — turning a useless or waste product into a new and better product. Upcycling is even better than recycling because it has less impact on the environment.

If you are interested in ordering one of my upcycled LEGO box items please visit my Folded Fancy Creations shop

Also, as it is Memorial Day weekend I will include an American Flag Keychain to all orders over $10 through June 1st.

2010 LEGO Star Wars Clone Turbo Tank and Hoth Wompa Cave Sets

February 10, 2010

Wired.com brings us hi-res images of two of the newest 2010 LEGO Star Wars sets from New York’s Toy Fair.

8098 Clone Turbo Tank $120 USD

8089 Hoth Wampa Cave

I’m pretty happy with the Wampa, although it reminds me a lot of the Rock Raiders cave monster from years past. What is it with LEGO making monsters that have ridiculously long arms?

With the Wampa and the Taun-taun now a reality the only important Classic Star Wars animal that is missing is the Rancor. Yet another long-armed monster. πŸ˜€

On a totally unrelated note, there are finally clear images of two of the upcoming Disney Toy Story 3 sets now on Eurobricks.com

2010 LEGO Preview from the Canadian Toy & Hobby Fair

February 6, 2010

On Kris Able’s Tech Life blog he recently paid a visit to the Canadian Toy and Hobby Fair and due to the over whelming response of his readers last year was good enough to take pictures of every LEGO set on display. πŸ™‚

Included in the pictures was the first images of the Collectible Minifigures and their packaging.

He also mentioned something that I’ve heard rumors of but have yet to have seen any images of:

Not included are any sets from the upcoming Harry Potter release. LEGO didn’t have any mock-up boxes or prototype sets, but they will be releasing kits both for the Hogwarts Castle, the Hogwarts Express train, and other elements from that world.

From the rumors I’ve heard, there will be a LEGO Harry Potter line in conjunction with with the upcoming video game that will be released later this year.

There are lots more images on his blog including summer’s line of LEGO Atlantis and the new Duplo LEGO Disney Cars, so be sure to check it out. πŸ˜‰

LEGO Prince of Persia 2010 Early Photos

December 23, 2009

Just as the new LEGO Toy Story 2010 sets have started to show up in stores, Eurobricks has posted pictures of the new LEGO Prince of Persia sets.

Although we got a very early preview look at the LEGO Prince of Persia minifigures at the San Diego Comic Con in July now we finally get a chance to see what the sets look like.

I’m very excited about these sets. They seem to be a more grown-up version of the Adventurers Orient Expedition sets from a few years ago. And of course, the new ostrich and camel are a bonus. πŸ˜‰

The movie isn’t set to come out until late May, so it is likely that we won’t be seeing these sets in real life until then.

Update: Images have been removed at the request of the LEGO company.

2010 LEGO Set Previews

September 20, 2009

If you’ve paid attention to any of the multitude of LEGO blogs, forums and photo sharing sites lately, you’ve probably started hearing rumors or seeing thumbnails of what will be available in 2010. Several of the much talked about themes are the new LEGO Toy Story, Prince of Persia, and Atlantis. Although I like to see the newest sets as soon as possible. sometimes the thumbnail images are so small and blurry that its almost not even worth trying to decipher what they are supposed to be. πŸ˜•

At a recent sponsored event in Russia called Festival Rossiyskogo Fan Forum LEGO Alexander posted pictures of some of the 2010 sets that LEGO displayed.

Update: Looks like all the images were taken down. 😦 I guess we’ll just have to wait a little to see the official images. πŸ˜‰

He took several pictures. From what I saw, 2010 is going to be another great year for LEGO. πŸ™‚
