Giant LEGO Christmas Tree

November 29, 2011

From this picture you’d never know it was LEGO. That’s right, LEGO. All forty feet of it, and all the decorations as well, are LEGO. The LEGOLAND Christmas tree is only 30 feet in comparison, and made of Duplo. This tree, which is in London’s St Pancras Station is made of regular LEGO and was created by England’s only LEGO Certified Professional Duncan Titmarsh in two monthes and has roughly 600,000 pieces! 😯

The star could only be reached by crane, or maybe a really, really big ladder. 😀

David Buxbaum, marketing director at Lego told Toy News: ‘The Lego brand is all about play and creativity and Christmas is the time for celebration and fun.
This magnificent Christmas tree is a shining example of these values and shows that with Lego bricks you can let your imagination run wild and build anything.
‘We hope that it will work to remind people that Lego toys are the Christmas gift that keeps on giving.’

It truly is a stunning model. But heck, anyone could build anything with over half a million bricks. 😉

The 2010 City Advent Calendar Review — Day 23

Day 23

What are Christmas presents without a Christmas tree? You’ve seen it in the background for all of Timmy and Angela’s presents, but here you can see the full tree in all its glory! The sparkling lights, the beautiful ornaments and the shining Christmas star on top (some imagination required to see it all 😉 ).

Christmasification of a Star Destroyer

December 25, 2009

Eurobricks is holding a Star Wars Christmasifiication challenge till the end of the month. We’ve all seen Christmasified Star Wars MOCs (my own creations) over the years. Larry Lars Nativity, Tim Goddard’s Xmas Speeder, and Louise Dade’s Season’s Greetings from Hoth are just a few examples.

Starwarsboy5 (aka Mos Eisley on Eurobricks) has come up with a rather ingenious Christmas Star Wars model that I’ve only seen something similar once before.

Before their secret location was discovered by the Empire, the Rebels always enjoyed Christmas on Hoth. Not only did they always have a white Christmas, but Luke and Leia could often be found singing carols near the giant Christmas Tree in the Echo Base Galleria…

The details on this are simply stunning! The micro ship ornaments are one of my favorite touches and the caroling Luke and Leia are a fun bonus.

You can see the full set of pictures on Brickshelf.com and you can also post comments on the Eurobricks forum.
