LEGO Batman 2 is almost here!

June 8, 2012

In just a little over a week LEGO Batman 2 the Video Game will be out for all platforms — June 19th the be precise (at least here in the States). I loved the original game and with the addition of the Justice League characters, I can only see the new game as an improvement on a winning formula.

And if you pre-order the game as I just did today, you get an exclusive Lex Luthor fig!

I plan on doing a full in depth review of the game as soon as I get my hands on a copy and have time to play it. I still haven’t finished LEGO Harry Potter 2 or LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, but we won’t mention that. πŸ˜‰

Of course that is the kicker isn’t it — time. As you’ve probably noticed I’ve been so busy doing fun and interesting projects and trips that I’ve had no time to properly blog any of it! Its really and truly as frustrating to me to not blog as it is for you to only see the same posts for days on end.

After next week’s trip to BrickWorld Chicago I don’t have any other trips planned until BrickFair in August. So maybe I’ll have a little breathing room. There is the San Diego Comic Con in next month too, but at least I don’t have to fly anywhere.

Three conventions — Phoenix Comicon, BricksCascade, and BrickWorld — in 4 weeks has been a little much for me, especially as I’m still not recovered from my Florida trip and the project that came right after that one. And of course, as it is Wedding season, my Wedding Cake Toppers are selling like hot cakes and I’m trying to fulfill orders between trips.

I’m busier than ever and my blog is sadly the thing that suffers the most from it. But I can’t complain. A business is supposed to grow and evolve, I just need to learn to grow and evolve a little more. πŸ˜‰

Bricks by the Bay 2012 Recap

March 31, 2012

Okay, so its a tad late, but I’ve finally found a bit of breathing space to sit down and talk about Bricks by the Bay 2012.

As always, I love going to LEGO Cons! They are just downright fun and I love hanging out with friends. πŸ™‚

I did make a bit of a mistake this year though, I agreed to do too much!

Not only was I a vendor as always, but I also agreed to give 2 presentations and participate in 2 panels as well as being the Art Theme coordinator.

And although I did love making the Art trophies, I wasn’t very good at coordinating, mainly because I wasn’t there. 😦

That coupled with a semi-accident while driving up there — don’t worry, I didn’t get hurt or anything, but I did puncture 2 tires and have to get a whole set of new ones 400 miles from home — kind of wore me out.

I had planned to drive back down to Southern California on Monday, but I totally underestimated my exhaustion factor. I ended up staying up there one more day and checked out the Winchester Mystery House, which was only a few miles from the convention — I see a potential MOC, that’s all I’m saying. πŸ˜‰

Needless to say, I won’t be doing as much next year.

One of my favorite models this year was Bill Ward’s Kermit

I was happy he won my Supreme Sculptor Art Award. πŸ˜€

And it was no surprise that Norbert Labuguen almost exclusively swept the Bionicle category.

I really liked this Tron model

I didn’t get nearly enough pictures, but Bill Ward took quite a few. πŸ˜‰

As seems to be common now, I didn’t get to see or do everything I wanted too, but even so, it was the fun start to my LEGO Con season.

Oh yes, it is a season of conventions for me this year. Not only am I planning on going to 5 LEGO Cons, 2 Comic Cons, but also one or two other Cons this year! I’m not complaining mind you, I’m just looking at a very hectic year. I was already planning all these trips in January, and since they go till October I was a little amazed that my year was already so full! πŸ˜€

Hopefully I’ll do a little better reporting at my next convention. I will be working a commission at a convention next month, and if I’m allowed, I’ll post about it, but I have to wait and see if I get permission.

One fun fact I can say about it is that it will be in Florida and since I’ll be down there any way, I plan on visiting LEGOLAND Florida and the LEGO Downtown Disney store to check out all the cool models with my own eyes. Of course I’ll be checking out the other theme parks as well, especially as the trip just happens to fall on my birthday. πŸ˜‰

In May I’ll be at the Phoenix Comicon. I’ll have some of my LEGO models on display with the local LEGO LUG and if I have time, a new mosiac for the event. So I will certainly be talking about that as it gets closer.

One week till Bricks by the Bay!

New Display for a New Year

As you’ve probably noticed. I’ve been a little MIA here on my blog recently. Well, as you can see from the photo, I’ve had a good reason. I’ve been making all of these earrings, necklaces and key chains for Bricks by the Bay.

I’m rolling out a lot of new designs and thanks to the Friends line (see all the pinks and pastels?), lots of new colors, that will be seen for the first time this month.

Not only did I make all the items you see listed, I made twice that much! My products will also be at BrickWorld Indy this weekend.

I even made new display racks, as my old ones were too small. Even with these new ones, I have to double up on some pegs or I just wouldn’t be able to fit it all. And yes, the display rack is LEGO too naturally. I mean why buy one when I have all these perfectly good LEGO elements I can make one out of? πŸ˜‰

Despite the hundreds (and I literally mean hundreds) of items I’ve already made I still have a few dozen or two to go. But the big push to get them all made, labeled and ready is easing off.

Of course I still have to finish the Art theme trophies, update my power point presentations I’ll be giving, and work on several other projects, but at least I’ve got a little less to do now. πŸ˜€

I plan on being at a lot of LEGO Cons and two Comicons this year. Its going to be pretty busy and a heck of a lot of fun! I am totally looking forward to all of it! πŸ™‚
