Walmart Iron Patriot Exclusive

May 7, 2013

So, have you seen Iron Man 3 yet? I just got a chance to catch it last night and it was just as fun as one and two.

One thing I was disappointed with **warning: slight spoiler** was that of the three Iron Man 3 LEGO sets, only the Malibu Mansion has anything to do with the movie. I realize that the sets are often designed while the movie is still in production, and perhaps there is a small chance that the other two sets may have been left on the Editing room floor, but considering the continuity of the movie, I really doubt that.

On that note, LEGO Marvel Super Heros the video game is coming out at the end of the year. And for this one Walmart, not Gamestop, has the exclusive figure — Iron Patriot.

Its a pretty sweet fig, although I still think that the helmets look a little on the big side.

Iron Patriot is available with the preorder of the game on PS3, XBox, or WiiU — all for just a hair under $50 each. Sadly it doesn’t look like it works for Nintendo DS or 3DS. 😦

The weird thing is that it says that the game will be available for shipment on Dec. 31st, everywhere else it says Oct. 31, which makes more sense. So we’ll see what the actual date is.

Behind the designs of the LEGO Harry Potter Game

July 3, 2010

LEGO Harry Potter the Video Game just recently hit stores earlier this week. I’ve not yet had a chance to check out the game, but thanks to LEGO Model Designer Carl Greatrix I have seen a few of the excellent models he designed for the game.

What is really interesting (and very cool) is that LEGO strives to make even the digital world actually build-able. That is where Carl Greatrix comes in. Some things like tables and chairs are pretty easy to design, while others like the dragon skeleton that hangs in one of the classrooms and the whomping willow are much more complex.

Carl generally designs the model in real life first and then creates it digitally. You can see with this “Ride in the Wasp” both the digital copy and the original.

Sometimes as with the pumpkin car the actual model looks a little different than the final game version.

The more and more I see of this game I can’t wait to try it. 😀

Carl, along with his coworkers, were also recently interviewed on Eurogamer.net.

You can see even more of Carl’s models in his Harry Potter LEGO game build / designs set on Flickr and of course when you play the LEGO Harry Potter Video Game. 😉

TT Games Announces Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars

February 8, 2010

It’s official, there will soon be a third LEGO Star Wars Video Game.

Based on the popular Cartoon Network animated TV series. The game is set for Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PSP, DS, and PC this fall. The company promises characters from both seasons of the series, along with cameos from the movie characters. TT is working to make this game an improvement over previous installments with an enhanced level builder, Jedi and Separatist factions, and new attacks and abilities.

“LucasArts is an amazing partner, and working with them on the next iteration of the Lego Star Wars continues to be a great experience,” said TT Games director Tom Stone in the press release. “The team at TT is working hard at making this simply the best Lego game ever with all new gameplay and features never before seen in a Lego game.”

Now although Clone Wars isn’t my most favorite of the Star Wars universe, I’m always a fan of the Traveler’s Tales LEGO Video Games. 🙂

Of course, I’m falling a tad behind on the games, since I’ve yet to get a PS3, Wii or Xbox. But I’ll catch up one of these days. 😉
